Registered Dental Assistant General and Law and Ethics Exam Update

On Thursday, May 24, 2018, the combined Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) General and Law and Ethics Written Examination was implemented. All candidates that have been approved by the Board to take their examination, may now schedule their RDA General and Law and Ethics Written Examination by calling Psychological Services Incorporated (PSI) at 877-392-6422 or by visiting www.psiexams.com Candidates are advised to have their file number available when calling to make their appointment. File numbers may be located by referencing the acceptance letter provided to the candidate from the Board.

The combined RDA General and Law and Ethics Written Examination consists of one-hundred-fifty (150) questions. Candidates will have three (3) hours to complete this examination. The fee for the examination is $38.50. The PSI Candidate Handbook is now available on the Boardís web site at; http://www.dbc.ca.gov, as well as the PSIís website.

Comparable to any new examination, there will be a slight delay in providing results due to the Board performing a quality assurance assessment on examination items. After completing their examination, candidates will receive a letter of participation that will explain that their exam results are being held for a period of four to six (4-6) weeks and that they will receive their examination scores by mail. Once the assessment has been completed, immediate release of examination results will resume.

Please note: If a candidate did not successfully pass both the RDA Law and Ethics and the RDA Written Examinations by Monday, May 14, they are required to take the combined RDA General and Law and Ethics Written Examination.

Please feel free to contact the Board with any questions by telephone at (916) 263-2300 or by email at da.program@dca.ca.gov
